- Library - Since December of 2003 we have been building our library of books of interest to our members. We now have over a hundred books. Members can borrow them for 30 days at no charge.
- Photo SIG - Our special interest group for photographers meets on the second Monday of the month in the Mac Lab. Members discuss of wide range of topics including new cameras and equipment, photographic techniques and specialized software for organizing, manipulating images and printing pictures.
- SCUM 411 - Since the beginning of San Carlans Using Macintosh, help sessions have been a big part of every meeting. On the first Monday of the month our members can use the combined talents our forty or fifty fellow SCUM folks to get their Mac questions answered. You can download a pdf file to show you what information you can offer to get the most help from the group.
- SCUM Mentor Program - Need Help With A Mac Problem? Ask Us. Email Edd Dundas.
- San Carlans Using Macintosh (SCUM) Mentors will offer knowledgeable solutions when they meet with SCUM members for one hour of one-on-one coaching. Here’s how it works:
- 1. SCUM members describe their Mac problem in an email Edd Dundas.
2. Edd will select from a list of mentors and their skills and ask the appropriate Mentor to contact the member in need by email or phone to arrange a time to meet.
3. The Mentor and the member will agree to meet and notify Edd. If they wish to use the Macs in the ACC Lab, they will ask Edd to confirm the availability of the Lab, and reserve the day and hour.
4. If the member needing assistance has a Mac laptop, they may wish to meet at another place that is mutually convenient.
5. Edd will keep a log of Lab appointments and email addresses of the mentor and the members needing help.
We look forward to helping you. Thanks.
Note: If the Mentor doesn't respond in 3 days, please email Edd for a reference to another Mentor.
- Walk-In Help Sessions by Appointment - Each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon Art Steffes will be in the Mac Lab to help you. There is also a special help session starting around 10:30 after each regular meeting. We can also provide a member of SCUM to help you with your Mac questions through our Mentor program (see above).
